Abstract

In this interview, Catherine Wanjiru speaks with Brother John Njuguna of Don Bosco Tech Africa about the role of Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (RPL) in addressing the educational and employment barriers faced by refugees, migrants, and returnees in Africa. Njuguna reflects on Don Bosco’s work in refugee settings such as Kakuma camp in Kenya and across multiple African regions affected by displacement and migration. The conversation highlights how competency-based assessment can recognize undocumented skills gained through formal, non-formal, and informal learning.
