What Counts as Research?

Abstract

This installment of PLIRC Research Database News discusses the important question “What counts as research in this field?” Significant issues of epistemology are emerging from what began as a practical question related to resources needed to populate and maintain the database. We review the various definitions of “research” used by scholars who contributed to Researching the Recognition of Prior Learning: International Perspectives (Harris, Breier & Wihak, 2011). We conclude by inviting interested readers to engage in this discussion with scholars around the world.
